Home in our own skins (paperback)

A debut collection of poetry and lyrics exploring home through place, ancestry, myth, trauma, body, family, addiction, music, gathering, flora, fauna, earth, climate emergency, and a global pandemic…

Tia Meraki is a poet, musician, and yoga teacher, inspired by the beautiful landscape of her adopted home on the edge of Exmoor and the North Devon coast.

She is often found swimming or attempting to surf among the breaking waves of the Atlantic. She also works for local environmental charity Plastic Free North Devon, seeking to facilitate and inspire nature connection and sustainable behaviour change; social and environmental justice have always been close to her heart and these are themes that frequently emerge in her writing.

"These poems wield a powerful alchemy of wild elemental imagery. Reading them I feel myself rooted, submerged and alight with hope. My insides smile while my face is still and at peace in a world of words both surreal and yet utterly relatable. This book is both bridge and cage, an invitation to come together and a desire to escape. It also has the wisdom to know we will spend most of our lives caught between the two."
Harula Ladd

“Tia's deceptively gentle lyrical poetry is firmly rooted in a deep love for the natural world and the people in it, underpinned by a fiercely intelligent and clear-eyed resolve. Life affirming, yet simultaneously breath stealing.”
